Is the Team Associated 18R and 18T interchange a lot of parts much like the Traxxas Stampede and Rustler?

Or are they completely two totally different vehicles?

Thanks,

Mark

only diff is 18r has shorter shocks, arms and dog bones are short and shock towers are not the same, everything else is the same, the 18b and 18t are the same besides the shock towers

So what's the difference? Is the "R" more for carpet/painted floor in a bodyshop style racing?

The R is supposed to be a Rally car style. In reality there is little difference between the three, and lots of people race the T on carpet. For some reason, AE makes foams for the T stub axle but not the R, so...

The R has a narrower width, which I guess gives it a slightly better turn radius but at the cost of reduced stability.

i myself would get the 18t for the wider stance

I agree, and I was actually shopping for a T but that consignment deal on the R with Mamba and Lipo already in was too good to pass up. I'm still going to get a T at some point, actually thinking about getting two of them. I let my girlfriend drive the Stampede last week and she had a blast, so I was thinking of getting two for us to run together. You know, that makes it easier to get away with spending crazy money on these things Cheesy

I do like the T the most however, mainly because you can run it in more severe off road. Put on the MT tires and it should be more capable and a bit more rugged too. Put on some adjustable metal shocks and you can go from monster truck to on road racer in a few steps.

If you want to change it too use the foam tires all you have to do is buy four spindles  and it will work. unless you want a wider stance then you have to change the control arms and the turnbuckles and axles.

On the T they do, the "R" stub axle is slightly different so they don't work. Strange decision to make foams for the T and not the R, but hey..

And yes you can run the T stub axles on the R, but I'm not sure if anything additional is needed for the conversion. I can not think of any reason it would require additional parts, but I haven't tried it myself.

FYI the R rubber tires work pretty well, much better than I expected. I have a feeling that they won't hook up as much as I would like on the H&E surface, but we will find out soon Smiley

More than likely the rubber tires will not grip too good or very long, even on carpet they would not do too well, it took foam treated with tire compound to get traction. You can run foams on a 18R without any parts but it requires yo to drill out part of the hub in the tire, and it has to be done with a drill press to make it staight or else the tire will wobble, I would change the spindle, it's alot less work. I am going to do it to mine and will see.
