I was thinking that there might be/IS a "stock" class with 8-10 guys.
And then maybe offer a "Mod" class that would have maybe 3 or 4 guys at this point. I wouldnt suggest this thinking that everyone would leave stock class.
Does this mean Bundy cant fairly race in stock class?
Just looking ahead a little I guess. Not trying to ruffle any feathers. Does anyone anticipate things getting so big, so fast with the Slash that CRC, The Grove, anywhere, will perhaps start running an "Open or Mod" class anytime soon?

Gentlemen, I believe the correct term is "Unlimited Class".....
You all know as well as I do, it's only a matter of time until we have it...."it's our density"

Ok.. Before a holy war starts here...
Everyone has the right to mod their truck in way shape or form they want. I think we are getting off on the wrong page here, so I hope I dont offend anyone with what im going to say.
The Slash class came up as "stock" to keep it simple, cheap and fun. We have already expericenced this last week.. These things are a blast to drive.. The rules we have out there are for HLP's track during racing Im sure Harold could give a rats behind what you run out there while we are just playing. We have talked about allowing LIPOS and other things and even tried them, but to keep it simple and fair we need to stick with the stock set up during racing.. Other tracks may have different rules. Im sure in time folks will mod the heck out of these trucks.. I myself even shoehorned a Mamba into one to see what the outcome was..(Lot of Uncontrollable Spinning) Each track has thier own set of rules and we all have to abide by them to be able to legally race at that location. Im sure the "Unlimited Class" Lee mentioned will evolve very soon. If Tracks like CRC ,The Grove and HLP Raceway set a class for them Go for it!!. Ill probably have one myself... We havent even had the first "real" race there yet and we are already talking about adding different classes. (I Myself am guilty).. Lets keep it simple for the first time or 2 we race and see how it goes. Im sure after Sunday we can get together on a date and have our first real race.
Reguardless of what rules are where. you can change out parts on these trucks in a matter of minutes.. heck I installed that Mamba in my second Slash in about 1/2 hour.. taking my time...So it should not be a big deal for any of us to adjust our trucks to conform to whatever tracks rules we are running at.
Our group is one of the most tight knitted RC groups I have seen in my short time in the hobby. I dont want everyone getting in a up roar and mad at each other about rules... This is for Fun.. My honest opinion is that the mods Bundy Mentioned are not going to make any difference on the track. Until One of us or all of us become "PRO" drivers to where the amount of droop you run etc.... it really just boils down to who can stay out of trouble and finish the race..but because we set rules as "Stock" lets keep it that way when we are racing at HLP (Windy Hill Raceway).
Hope I havent offended anyone.

Yeah I agree, I don't want to sound like a nit picker and I really don't think that those mod will improve anything. BUT, I don't want to lose sight of what the original intent was, which I think is why so many people jumped at the idea. We all know that it's easy to start sinking serious money into these and I think everyone here has at least one RC that they'll admit has far too much money in it
The original idea came because at just about any racetrack in the area you can choose between at least four active classes on any week. All of them require some serious money to be competitive, some more than others. What we wanted was a way for everyone to get in for around $300 including a charger and batteries and be on the same level equipment-wise. The only reason I'm being particular about the rules is because I know how it happens - once you start down the road of "what about this.." modifications it's all downhill, quick. Next comes steering servos - might seem like a pretty tame mod but I can assure you that if you put a 120 oz torque servo in these you can take lines that it won't hold stock. Then comes tires, esc, etc.. and soon it's unlimited.
The reality is that even if a modification doesn't improve the truck's performance in any way, as soon as a person with that mod wins a race, people start feeling like they need to make that mod to keep up. We've had a ton of fun at the track just messing around, never really ran a race so far, and in that area anything is allowed. We ran with Steve's MM Slash on the track and that's fine, I've run LiPos out there, but if we want to have an actual race with Spec class rules, let's keep it as simple as possible please.

I like the landrush style starts. If anyone ever gets an itch to do more work on the track, we should build a dirt mound where the open section of the wall is and slope it down toward the track. Start the races up there, everyone screaming downhill toward the front straight from the start. That first corner would be interesting, with the track narrowing just before you get there

yep.. and we would have to staff a few wreckers to pick up the carnage.
but it would be fun!!!
