Well I have had my new Edge together for about a week.. freking thing is awesome.. better than my last one..(Thanks Tom for the setup tips etc).
Ok so I dediced to take the Dig out of the box.. I laid out all of the parts. Watched the VF.com instructions like 3 or 4 time to make sure i understood it before I even touched it..
I tore the truck down as instructed and put it together. Started setting up the servo end points..and noticed some serious smoke coming form the servo..

..
Realized the linkage was jammed and the servo was working against itsself..
So I thought ok..maybe I did something wrong and Ill just go buy another servo..Took it apart to see what was causing the jam.. It looks like the brass rods were not machined correctly and when you put the case together it would jam the mechanism (sp).. So I spoke with a few folks and read some fourms and most folks had to snad down the brass shafts that the fork slides on as well as the main cog..so I did that seemed to move a little better. Hooked the linkage back up and tried moving it with my hand and it still jammed..I come to realize the
s*&%tty bushing that the brass rods slide through were cusing the bind.. when the linkage would pull or push them..Its like the linkage is pulling at a slight angle instead of a stright throw..so now i have ruined the bushings...
After talking to Tom i decided to give it a rest for tonight and will work on it later..Also you have to cut you r rear drive shaft as well as shorten the bolt that mounts the 4 link set up to the frame. You also have to completly turn your tranny around in the chassis and mount it backwards which will require you to either re wire your motor connections or reverse your servos from your TX..
If I would have realized that there was going to be so much work involved I would h ave just paid someone to do it for me..geez what a pain.
I think Silas has the same problem with his..VF shoul dhave engineered these a little better.. Im thinking about throwing it in the garbage and getting a R2D Disconnect ranny and a new skid plate to mount it and be done with it..
So for those of you wanting a Dig.. be careful.. Tom was one of the lucky one who got one the ones that was correctly made form the factory and had no problems with his..
Just ranting...Thanks VF!!
