Anyone else up for an outing? I'm trying to get some ideas for a place to go around Charlotte. We have a few crawlers in the group now, who is good to go Saturday?

Tom and I are going to Archdale to pick up his crawler tomorrow morning and we have a little work to do to get it ready to crawl. I still need to assemble some battery packs too, I've gotten pulled in a couple of different directons this week and just haven't had the time. I'm gonna try to get that done this evening though.  How about Sunday after the races? Tom and I have found a really nice "natural" place down in South Carolina, down 521 about 15 minutes south of Ballantine. It's on the edge of the rock ridge near where Hwy 5 crosses the Cawataba River, just north of Van Wyke.

I hear a lot about the "Bullhole" in Cooleemee. It's about an hour from North Charlotte, might be less for Shane and Lee.

It's a few miles from this marker:

Ok, Sunday sounds good, I should have the entire day free. I finished work on the WK yesterday, redid the steering links and made a waterproof box for the electronics. It should be fully submersible now  Cool

After this week's rain that should come in handy. I was hoping to get out today and get it wet but looks like the rain isn't going anywhere for awhile.

Cool, you're not running 10th scale either right? Tom and I were thinking about bolting right after we finish in the mini classes to go get our crawl on. The place I'm talking about is maybe 30 minutes from Monroe. We can just caravan if you're cool with that. There's maybe a good 1/2 acre of natural stuff and on the opposite side of Steel Hill Road there are some rocks palced to block 1:1 offroaders that should be a lot of fun too. We're also only about 30 minutes from Uharrie at MIS too, so we can head out in several directions, we just need to decide which one.

Here's a map, it's just on the south side of Steel Hill Road and just east of Millstone Branch Road:

Nah I'll be running the mini mod class and that's it. I'm good for taking off after that's done if you want. Either of those locations sounds good, they're both the opposite direction from home for me so it doesn't really matter.

Let's try the Van Wyke spot then, it's right beside the road and easy to get to. I want to check it out because it'll be a good spot after work for me once the time changes.

Don't have a lot of faith in your work huh.....let me rephrase that, you don't have a lot of faith in MY work.  Tongue

We're talking Sunday after we race too. I'm game for where ever, but that SC spot was uber cool for 20 minutes or so away.

Well, like I said, I'm cool with where ever, I just want to run on some rocks. I vote Van Wyke, but you guys let me know what you think.

I'm alright with whatever, I just want something more exciting than rip rap.. I have about 4 areas within half a mile's walk from my door that I've been going over a lot. Really though even more rip rap would be ok with the group, at least it's more entertaining than watching myself go over it

Don't worry, they'll be plenty more crawls I'm sure.

Chris, I'm sure you'll like the spot in SC. It's nice and natural, no rip rap in sight. Cheesy It's also in a nice group of trees so summer crawling would be shaded.

I'm sure as time passes we'll find more spots closer to home too.
