It's not neccessary, especially if you're not running a Mamba/Sidewinder. CC ESCs only put out 5v from the stock BEC. People run a stand alone BEC to get 6v to the servo. Unless your going to compete, it's not going to make a difference that you'll notice.

I'd agree, it's not required. I see people on RCC saying that a minimum torque is 130 oz, and over 200 is what some consider minimum. I am using a servo with 80oz in my WK, and it works fine. In competition where you get penalized for backing up it would be a problem, but just messing around it isn't.

On the other hand, the BEC is only $20, so it might be worth considering. Also as I understand you can connect it to the Castlelink to adjust the output voltage up to 9v. The default setting is 5.1, and most servos want 6. You're not losing much there in my opinion, so it's a judgement call. Probably just go without it, and if you find you want more torque that's a $20 item that will give a little bit of increase.

No, like I said above you don't have to run a BEC with either ESC. It's up to you, if you use either in the crawler, you'll be running your servo at 5v instead of 6v unless you add the BEC. It won't hurt the servo or your controller to operate this way. If you want 6v to your servo, run a BEC, if it's not important, then run straight off the Mamba/Sidewinder.

I'd run the MM in the buggy and the Sidewinder in the crawler, the buggy stands more of a chance of pulling up near 100a draw.

No need to apologize. Some of the electrical stuff is a little difficult to understand since it's hard to visualize. I have some electronic schooling in my back ground which benefits me in this stuff, just makes it a little easier to understand.

Well, I don't really think we have enough electronic questions to warrant it's own section, we can just cover them in each instance that they come up.
