Here is a video I did up kind of quick, it's a pain to carry the camera and tripod around while driving a truck. I wanted to record the progress as I made changes, so I have some video of "before" and "after".

If I remember correctly, the before shots were with: front tires reversed, diffs locked, battery mounted under front of chassis. Stock motor (27t) and XL5 esc, 6 cell Nimh pack.

After is the same, plus: servo mounted on axle, front tires grooved, both wheels weighted, chassis reversed, chassis streched 3", Rooster Crawler esc and 55t motor, 2s lipo pack.

Yeah it's funny now to go back and see how clumsy it was then. It lurched over the rocks and was always ready to topple. Balancing the weight was huge.

It's more fun than it looks, to me anyway. I was bummed out in recording that video today, my batteries in the camera went dead right as I was getting on that big rock next to the stream. That's the first area of the park, and there are about a half dozen more that I go through a lot. There isn't much climbing there, but I think it looks cool to see the truck cruising by the stream.

Also, those rock beds are not a great show of the truck's abilities. There are huge gaps between the rocks and it's very uneven, so it's slow getting through. I have to back up a lot to get the tires lined up on small rock edges to keep the chassis from bottoming out, so it doesn't look very exciting. It's quite a feeling to get to the top of something though. My girlfriend watched me driving it the other day for the first time, and she couldn't stop laughing because I would not stop trying to get over something until I cleared it.

  That's a great idea.

It gets beat up pretty bad, I think it's inevitable. You're going to be dragging the bottom across rock edges to some degree. I'm looking to build an underchassis skid plate for the WK because I can see it getting grinded down over time.

The body gets beat to heck too, no avoiding that unless you shelf it Wink I opened the AX10 kit last night and was happy to see how thick the body is. It's still going to get scratched as you drag across rocks and roll over and down them, but it shouldn't ever get worn out. I think they look better with some scars, adds to the realism Smiley

I like the ones intentionally painted to look like beaters. Tom showed me one last night that was awesome. I'll try to find it, but if you go to RCC and search for "beater" there are a bunch of good ones that come up.

Aw, you can't worry about a few little scratches.

I big giant pile of rocks is what sounds fun! I can't wait for the next trip to the mountains. The cabin we normally rent has a great granite hill side for crawling. I tried it last year with my E-Maxx and didn't have much luck. I'm hoping the AX10 will be a better performer when we go back. Until then, we're going to have to locate some crawling spots around here, should be fairly easy. I can think of a couple already, remember the drainage spots at Francis Beatty full of rip rap? Another unsuccessful E-Maxx spot, but I bet our AXes (and WK) will shine.

I like the beater bodies too. I saw one that I think was a hard plastic shell, or a lexan painted on the outside. It was painted with a dull finish, had rust spots, scuffed paint, and one section that looked like Bondo
