This is it out of the box. Going to be doing some modifications over the next weeks, here is how it all begins..

With the 18R for comparison

With the Stampede for comparison

It's technically a 1/12th scale, but it compares pretty close to the Stampede. When I finish the chassis stretch it will mount Savage size bodies Smiley

Did a lot of work on it this morning, I think it's almost done Smiley

Reversed the chassis, stretched it using Traxxas turnbuckles and half shafts. Original wheelbase is 9.4", now it's 12.5" - maximum legal for 2.2 competitions. Mounted the servo down on the axle, replaced the main steering links, relocated most of the electronics. This allows me to mount the battery in the front and get some of the weight lower in the frame.

It climbs much better after these changes, the front wheels can stretch over top of a lot of lips, and it doesn't want to flip backwards as much. It rolls right over obstacles now that I hard to work over last week. Even ran it down the creek a little bit Cheesy It's not completely waterproof, but up to about 3.5" deep it is.

Looks awesome. Are those wheels 2.2?

If I get one started it's gonna be a super. Probably with clod axles.

Too many ideas not enough time or money.

Looks killer though.  Cool

I know a spot near uptown that has more rocks and obstacles than you could shake your transmitter at.

Those are the stock tires and wheels, I'm almost certain they are 2.2s. Replacing them is next on the list, because they are not nearly soft enough to crawl with. I'm hoping those wheels will fit the Stampede hubs, so I can reuse them.

Yeah, I'd like to see them, I like the tube chassis models a lot.

Don't know about that, the AX10 is to learn about/how to crawl. I'm sure I'm going to want something bigger than a 2.2 and I'm thinking a custom tube chassis with a Maxx driveline, need to learn the basics first though.

I'm gonna give it a while, build and run the Ax it a good bit first. I want to make sure I enjoy crawling first before I rip my E-Maxx apart, but I have a few ideas for a chassis design that I want to build and the E-Maxx driveline should be perfect for it. I was sketching a little last night and made a few measurements. I'm thinking 4 link tube chassis with an overall wheel base of about 16". Lock out the E-Maxx axles, drop spools in the diffs and use the aluminum bulk heads and skids I already have. I also want to try to do a 4 wheel steering set up on it. The goal is to make it look as much like a real tube chassis, purpose built rock crawler as possible. I'm thinking I may even try a smaller scale chassis first for the AX just to practice braising. It's been a long time since I did any small tube braising, I'm sure I'm rusty. Oh the E-Maxx idea is far from gone...
