Got it together Sunday... was slow at work so took it out and started bashing around the inside of the shop.

Drove it outside (though I was standing still inside the shop) and broke a cardinal rule. Never drive it if you can't see it.

I hit the gas thinking I was see it go past the open garage door and then control it. Well, it bumped into the door so I hit reverse and hit the throttle.

I thought I only did it for a second but apparently hard enough to stuff it under a wrecked car and broke a control arm, transmission housing, frt axle, wheelie bar, wheelie bar bracket and a few other minor things.

I took the trans apart, replaced the housing and put it together. Got it together and realized I put the control arms on backwards.

Took it apart and (which meant in this particular case, I had to remove the trans from the chassis) and put it together.

Got it all together and realized there was a guide pin laying on the ground.
Took it apart again only to realize that the pin comes with the new unit.

Put it together and didn't like the way the two halves fit together. Took it apart, replaced the other half and got it together.

Took it for a test drive and it was howling.

Checked pinion mesh setting and it was okay.

Took the trans out and went through it. Assembled it, set it on the chassis without bolting it together and tried it again.

Still howled.

Took it apart and checked it out, pulled up schematics and made sure it was together correctly and I didn't forget some washer somewhere.

Put it together, set it on the chassis again without bolting it on and tried it.

Still grinding.

Took it apart, replaced all the bearings, greased it and put it back together.

Fiiiinnnnnaaaaaalllly, it's back together and perfect.

Whew, that was 5 hours of work.
