Has anyone had the chance to see the new layout at the CRC track?

There are a couple of pics in this thread:

I like it and I don't. It's slower for the most part, which itself isn't bad, but there are some sections that are too exact. The front tabletop (they call the rhythm section) can only be cleared it you jump at an angle, because it also goes around a corner. Try it and get offline a slight bit and you're toasted.

I don't understand the point of the ripples either - it seems just luck determines if you get through clean or wipe out. They are too small and close to take as doubles, and that section is too slow to clear the whole thing. As innocent as they look, I actually wiped out a few times going through it.

Outside of that I like the changes - the sweeper is fast and leads into the front straight. The track was also a bit inconsistant in traction, but I think that's mostly because it was still being worked on yesterday. There was actually a puddle in the sweeper when I got there this morning, and my buggy came off the track with about a half pound of mud all morning.

So did you race today Chris? How did you finish?

Thanks for update on the track.

Yeah, I did ok considering the problems I was having with the new track. I didn't get in nearly enough practice time to learn the new jumps, and the buggy wasn't even really dialed in on the old layout. The rear was way loose and I was sliding all over the place. I think now I understand what they mean by "point and shoot" tracks. It's so slick out there that you have to coast through the turns and only accelerate on a dead line.

I made the A-main, just barely! I ended up finishing 7th out of 10, same as Wednesday night. I was actually running pretty well until I mysteriously broke a ball cap on the rear suspension.. it just snapped at the base.

I won't talk about troubles though, since Tim was pitted across from me. Guy had a rough day all around, just plain bad luck 90% of the time. He had just got his truck where he liked it, set it down on the side of the track to get some practice, walked three steps up the driver's stand, and WHACK. Some idiot came barreling through full bore and ran into his parked truck. After that it just continued downhill, breaking parts on the slightest tumbles.

I tell you, after playing with Traxxas stuff for a few months and then going to racers, I have a new appreciation for the toughness of Traxxas. These things tumble lightly and break parts. Last week I landed just slightly off center on a downhill slope, looked perfectly normal. Snapped the shock tower, front bulkhead, and a slotted spacer between them.

The new track look pretty... uh... technical.  It's good that they switch it up from time to time though.  I like it.
