Okay, I don't want to celebrate too soon. It's possible that there is something wrong with the stirring servo.

Maybe... except on thing I didn't know. This must be an older version. It uses a servo for the change in torq speed I think and on servo to turn the wheels. You know as well as I this thing either needs two servo's or a high torq servo. Next thing I thought I'd tell ya'll about is it has an EVX esc 14.4 volt. So i have to assume, this is an old rig, right? If so, is there a servo out there that can deliver the torq as good as two of them and will the reciever and esc handle the power it needs?

Yeah, it's an older model, but still a good deal. You're going to need two servos though if they need to be replaced. It will have a manual two speed tranny that you'll need a servo to shift and you'll need a steering servo. There isn't any way to combine those functions to a single servo. I use a Futaba 3305 for steering in my E-Maxx, I use a stock Traxxas for shifting.

So the servo that is for the transmission needs to be replaced with a steering servo? I See what you are talking about some what in my head but do you have anyones photo or schematics to follow by? Are saying it isn't feesable or logical to run one servo, right?

It is not possible to run a single servo, they serve two completely separate functions. You need something around a 50oz servo for shifting the transmission and something around at least 100oz servo for steering. They are completely different and can't be replaced with a single servo to handle both functions.

Here's the Traxxas page for the E-Maxx:

Here's the E-Maxx exploded views at Traxxas for all the assemblies:

This is the chassis exploded view that shows how each of the two servos are configured and sit in the chassis:

I just spoke with the LHS guy here in Hickory and he said the 2055 Traxxas servo I have on it now should be a 98 torq servo. He stated that there could be something wrong with the gearing inside as if they were stripped but I asked him, "wouldn't I hear it spinning inside" and he said yes. I don't hear it spinning inside. It sounds as if it is trying to turn a very heavy load. If I try to turn it sitting still the servo sounds as if it is strugling to turn. But it seems to turn better when it is rolling. I asked if the motor could be burned out or worn, he said it wouldn't work at all.
I really haven't figured it out yet but, I want to through this up in the air, could the reciever be bad, not putting out enough power to the servo? If I used a volt ome meter in the points, should it give me a reading of the amount it should get from two 6 cell 7.2v batteries to the servo?

The stock servo in an E-Maxx won't turn the wheels when it's sitting still, not even right out of the box. It's just compressing the servo saver a little then bogging down. That stock servo may say it's rated at 98, but I seriously doubt it is. Yes, you can get a single aftermarket servo that makes as much torq as the new double set up, but it's not necessary, something that actually pushes out 100 to 150+ oz will work just great. That Futaba I linked above will turn the tires sitting still, the stock on never would.

Thanks man, as soon as the next paycheck comes around I'll probably shoot for one.
I drove it some around 12:00 pm and it turns fine as long as it's moving. Deffenetly getting one of those futabas.

Cool, glad I could help. It's not going to hurt it to run the servo that's in it. It'll just respond a lot better with a stronger servo. Have fun!

I don't have any nicads either, and I've never had any problem with it. You can use any servo though, just make sure you get and arm to fit the splines.

Thats the craziest thing I have heard. Power is power less its ac or dc and as long as its getting its voltage requirements, it wont know weather its nicad, nimih, or lipo. BTW , nice grab for the price!!
