The 123s are a new technology and gaining momentum. I think I have some links/info on them on my home computer. I'll look when I get there.

They are a funky size compared to other cells, so you might have to be creative with the way the packs are put together. I have heard good things too though.

Here's A123Systems website, lots of good technical info: http://www.a123systems.com
Battery University is a wealth of info about all types of batts: http://www.batteryuniversity.com/
Good info as A123s relate to RC (heli): http://www.evworld.com/article.cfm?storyid=1174

and this motorcycle will run under 8 seconds in a 1/4 mile on A123s! http://www.killacycle.com/

Also alot of plane guys are taking the cells out of the newer De-Walt Drill batt pack and soldering them together and using them.. Lighter and more powerful.. But they are a funky shape..

Now that's the ticket! Cheesy
If you look at it, it's not that much more than a good lipo. It's suppose to last longer, charge faster and be safer than the lipo while doing it. Doesn't sound like a bad deal. Anyone know if they require balancing? That's the one thing I haven't been able to find.

That would be nice, I just got set up for lipo and started using them and I think that stresses me the most about using them. Are they balanced? The balancer says they are, but is it working right? I love the way they perform, but it's still a little scary knowing how they can flame out.

I talked to Jason at max amps and he could not suggest the a123's for my Rusty, first they are to long in one configuration or to wide in another. Max-amps was not sure if the ice charger would work since they dont sell that product. I am still on a mission to figure it out.

Bill have you broke into your dewalt pack yet ?
